Buying Tools or Knives

By law you must be 18 or over to purchase any knives or tools from our website – or any of our products that contain these items.

By agreeing to these terms and conditions you are confirming that you are at least 18 years of age.

The Green Wood Guild accepts no responsibility for the sale of tools or knives to underage persons who have agreed to these terms and conditions.

NOTE – THIS INCLUDES OUR WHITTLING GIFT BOX, WHICH CONTAINS A CARVING KNIFE.

You have the right to know what information we hold about you and what we use it for, and the right to obtain this information from us or request that we delete it at any time.

This Privacy Statement describes which personal data is collected and for which purposes this personal data is processed by The Green Wood Guild. It also states which rights you have under applicable data protection legislation.

COLLECTING YOUR PERSONAL DATA

We collect your email, address, telephone number, billing/delivery address when you register with us and when placing an order. The information we collect is used to process any orders.

We also collect your name and email address when you use any of the contact forms on our site. We may use these details to contact you with relevant information to your enquiry, or email marketing in relation to the services that we offer.

WHY WE COLLECT YOUR DATA

We use the information we collect about you to process your bookings, answer your queries, process your gift card purchases, provide booking confirmations & course details, and to enable you to manage your website user account.  With your consent, we will contact you via our marketing and sales channels (email) about other related products and services we offer, which we think may be of interest to you.

SHARING YOUR DATA

We may share your personal data with third parties where you have provided your consent to do so.

We may share your personal data with our third party service providers who provide services such as payment processing, information technology and related infrastructure provision, the processing and delivery of marketing communications to you, email delivery, and other similar services. These third parties are only permitted to use your personal data to the extent necessary to enable them to provide their services to us. They are required to follow our express instructions and to comply with appropriate security measures to protect your personal data. Third parties are subject to confidentiality obligations and may only use your personal data to perform the necessary functions and not for other purposes.

BILLING DETAILS & SECURITY INFORMATION

We use Paypal for all of our payments, helping you to stay secure and protected. The Green Wood Guild does not see or store any of your credit/debit card details.

INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

In some instances it is necessary to transfer your personal data overseas.  Any transfers will be made in full compliance with all aspects of the applicable regulations.

For some of our business purposes we use cloud based services. Therefore, for technical and organisational reasons, it is necessary that your personal data is transferred to servers located in the US, or to servers located in countries outside of the EEA.

YOUR RIGHTS

The GDPR provides the following rights for individuals:

Right to revoke consent

If we process personal data on the basis of your consent, you have the legal right to revoke such consent at any time. We will then cease the relevant processing activity going forward.

Right of access to your information

We will ask you to identify yourself. We will not provide you with a copy of your personal data to the extent that the rights and freedoms of others are or may be adversely affected.

Right to rectification and erasure of data, and restriction of processing

If you believe that our processing of your personal data is incorrect, inaccurate, unlawful, excessive, incomplete, no longer relevant, or if you think that your data is stored longer than necessary, you may ask us to change or remove such personal data or restrict such processing activity, by sending an email to info@thegreenwoodguild.com.

Right to data portability

You have the right to receive your personal data, which you have provided to us, in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, in accordance with Article 20 of the General Data Protection Regulation.

Right to object

You have the legal right to object, on grounds relating to your particular personal situation, at any time to processing of your personal data.  Furthermore, you have the right to object at any time to our processing of your personal data for direct marketing purposes or to profiling. You can do this by either opting out by using the option we provide in the relevant direct marketing message (e.g. an email newsletter),  or by sending an email to info@thegreenwoodguild.com.

 

PROTECTION AND STORAGE OF YOUR DATA

We have used and will continue to use reasonable endeavours to protect your personal data against loss, alteration or any form of unlawful use.

We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach where we are legally required to do so.

The Website uses various cookies. We may track and record your use of our online services, either through cookies or via other means. Cookies enable us and others to monitor your browsing behaviour. Information generated by the use of cookies may constitute personal data. We may use the personal data collected in this manner for the purposes as stipulated in this Privacy Statement.

RETENTION OF INFORMATION

We will only retain your personal data for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Statement. This may be up to 4 years, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

We have done our best to make sure that this Privacy Statement explains the way in which we process your personal data, and rights you have in relation thereto. We may change this Privacy Statement from time to time to make sure it is still up to date and we will notify you if we make any material updates. We may also notify you in other ways from time to time about the processing of your personal information.

 

Gift Vouchers

Please note that our gift vouchers are fully transferrable – you can pass them on to anyone.

No refund will be given for unused valid gift vouchers or those that have expired.

When specified on the voucher itself, or in the voucher’s product description on our website, a voucher can only be used to book a place on the course stated.

When specified that a voucher is redeemable for a particular value, e.g. £150, against certain classes, it is redeemable for that amount only, and can only be used to book onto classes with a value equal or higher to that amount.

Green Wood Guild gift vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash and no change or partial refund can be given.

All of our gift vouchers are valid for one use only.

Once a booking has been made using a voucher, that booking is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to a different course or date.

 

General Course Info

Your course fee covers tuition, and the tools and materials used. All tools and materials are provided for you.

All of our courses are beginner friendly, unless stated otherwise.

Fresh coffee, a range of teas, fruit and biscuits are provided on our courses. No lunch is provided for day and weekend classes. On these classes we advise that you bring a packed lunch or make use of the fantastic cafe and Saturday market on the farm!

Unless stated otherwise, all our courses are held at our studio on Stepney City Farm.

 

Bookings

Details of classes and workshops contained on the website may be subject to change without notice. We reserve the right to cancel or move a class or workshop due to unforeseen circumstances including illness.

If for any reason we are forced to cancel a class we will notify you as soon as possible. In this event we will be able to transfer your booking to another available class, or alternatively we will refund your course fee in full.

Once a booking is made you should immediately receive a confirmation email. as well as a further email with full details of the class within 24 hours.

Please note – this will be sent to the email address of the person who has made the booking. If you are buying a class for a friend, we will leave it to you to pass pon these details at your discretion.

 

Under 18s

Please note that our courses are designed for adults. We cannot accept bookings from or for people under the age of 18.

 

Cancellation Policy

We regret that once booked we cannot offer refunds or transfers on any workshops or classes.

If for any reason you need to cancel your place on a course then we regret that no refund can be issued. If you are booked on a course and do not turn up on the day then no refund or transfer will be given.

Transfers onto an alternative class or date are only offered under exceptional circumstances and are at the discretion of The Green Wood Guild.

You can however transfer your place on a course to a friend at any point before the course starts. If you do wish to transfer your place to a friend, please notify us as soon as possible. If we have not received any notification that a transfer has been made, we reserve the right to refuse entry to the class.

Booking For Another Person

If you’d like to book a class for a friend or loved one we recommend our gift vouchers for that personal touch!

However you can also book a class directly, on another person’s behalf. Simply make the booking as you normally would and state the name of the person who will be attending the class in the ‘Additional Info’ box at the checkout.

 

Intellectual Property Rights

All material on our website is covered by copyright laws.  Accordingly you should not copy, reproduce or re-transmit any material from the website apart from downloading the order form, gift voucher pdfs or other pages for your own personal use.

 

Other Websites

Our website may contain links to other websites which are outside our control and are not covered by our Terms and Conditions.  If you access other websites using the links provided, the operators of these websites may collect information from you which will be used by them in accordance with their privacy policy, which may differ from ours.

 

General Provisions

We may alter these Terms and Conditions from time to time and post the new version on the website and that version will take effect immediately thereafter.

If any provision of these Terms and Conditions shall become illegal or unenforceable for any reason whatsoever then these Terms and Conditions shall take effect as if such provision had been omitted and the remainder of the Terms and Conditions shall not be affected.

This legal notice is governed by and construed in accordance with English law.
